So I am an ordained Minister in the PCUSA, a wife, and a mother to 4 beautiful girls. This accounts for a great deal of who I am and what I do. But it doesn’t define me, a child of God does that – the person I am because of Jesus is where I am centered. I am pastoring in Woodstown, NJ, where I also grew up. It is unusual, but it works for us. Why am I blogging? The easy answer is this: years ago my boss asked me to. But the more complicated answer is this: I am hoping this will serve as a way of reminding me who I am and what I was created to do, and that it might be an encouragement to others as they balance the roles in their own lives. Also, that it will be a space where I can just be me, and be reminded that even when things are rocky God is faithful. And even as I feel pulled in multiple directions, due to wearing various hats, I can be assured that even though I don’t have it all figured out yet – God does.
So I suppose this blog aims to speak the Truth and Grace of the Christian Faith into the lives of others by sharing my life. And hopefully to humbly remind me that is it not about me, but about Him. Oh yeah, and that it is ok to fail, and most certainly going to happen from time to time.
But most importantly it is a space for me to tell my story, and by doing it maybe even encourage others to share their story too. What story? The personal story of an encounter with grace that each one of us has in regards to Jesus. My story is about coming home, returning in a literal sense but most importantly in a spiritual one. It is a story that keeps on going. It is the story God is writing in my life – the one that points to Him.
